IIT Madras launches international interdisciplinary Master’s programmes

IIT Madras is proud to announce nine International Interdisciplinary Master’s degree programs (I2MP), starting in July 2022. The program brings together innovative curricula with IIT Madras’ award-winning pedagogy and research methodology. The world is moving towards a future where engineers cut across traditional domains in their expertise and skills. The boundaries between various engineering disciplines are dissolving, and solutions to current-day problems necessarily involve collaborations between experts in a host of fields. An interdisciplinary master’s degree at IIT Madras will serve to build a generation of students trained for present-day careers at the interfaces of traditional engineering and science disciplines.



The two-year program is specially crafted for highly motivated top-tier international Science and Engineering students interested in an interdisciplinary master’s degree.

There are nine interdisciplinary degrees on offer. Students from any engineering/science discipline are welcome to apply. In addition to core and elective courses in various disciplines, international students will take up courses in Indian culture and basic research skills as well. The second year of the program will be dedicated to a research-based master’s thesis.

Advanced Materials And Nanotechnology: Understanding the physics and chemistry of matter and processes at the nanoscale.

Computational Engineering: The development of Engineering Analysis and design tools for Complex Engineering problems.

Energy Systems: Energy is a key factor in the growth of countries and their development. Yet, the world.

Biomedical Engineering: With the increasing need for developing newer efficient technologies and devices in healthcare and diagnostics.

Cyber Physical Systems: The Cyber-Physical Systems program is the first-of-its-kind and brings together.

Quantum Science And Technology: Quantum computing has heralded a fundamental technological shift.

Complex Systems And Dynamics: Many natural and experimental systems exhibit complex dynamical.

Data Science: The interdisciplinary master’s degree in Data Science is a unique offering from IIT Madras.

Robotics: The International Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree program (I2MP) in Robotics is proposed.


Eligibility criteria:

• International candidates who have qualified for the award of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or Master's degree in Science are eligible to apply for admission to the I2MP program. Please note that you are required to have 4+ years of UG / PG in hand to be eligible for this program.


• Candidates should have competence in English.


• Only Foreign Student (Non-Indians) are eligible to apply for this program.


• Candidates are expected to have strong academic performance in their Under-Graduate programs.

Fee
SAARC Countries: Approx USD 10,000/- (Tuition: USD 4000 + Living Expenses).
Non-SAARC Countries: Approx USD 15,000/- (Tuition: USD 8000 + Living Expenses)

Dates
Applications are open until 15th May 2022. If shortlisted, you may expect to attend the online interview between the end of May to early June 2022. The final selections will be announced by early July 2022.
