The BCC plays a critical role in supporting Bain's practices globally helping to further strengthen Bain's world-class intellectual capital. The BCC group is comprised of Consulting Services, Global Shared Services and Product, Practice & Knowledge (PPK).

The global PPK group is a key function, which helps to identify, create, and leverage “best of Bain” content, expertise, and also helps Bain practice areas develop commercial strategies.

This role will be a part of the Central Tagging Team (CTT), which plays a vital part in the global PPK function. The CTT is a centralized team that ensures that all projects are accurately and consistently classified according to Bain’s tagging policy. The Associate will be expected to work independently in a global set up and manage the work plan effectively while working with senior stakeholders. A good understanding of the business and taxonomy will help the Associate to succeed in this role. The focus of the role is on performing timely interventions and checkpoints at various stages of the case life-cycle and supporting adherence to the policy, in particular for industry and capability terms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides daily operations and internal customer support for Bain’s CTT
  • Monitors and validates the new and ongoing term tagging efforts to check against the pre-established industry and capability guidelines for all Bain cases/projects worldwide
  • Addresses queries related to tagging in a timely and professional manner, including requests to change existing terms, establishing the sector for new clients using Bain’s client sector map and confirming commercial entry point of client projects and programs
  • Researches and prepares information to help CTT and Head of PPK resolve tagging disputes on an ongoing basis
  • Ensures timely communication and awareness of the CTT policy and processes to all stakeholders and CTT team; informs stakeholders of relevant tagging changes
  • o Helps in the development and maintenance of policy, training, and other documentation related to the CTT and tagging
  • Provides support with tasks related to the systems in collaboration with the Product Owners and other internal stakeholders
  • Plays an active role in enhancing and optimizing the existing processes and customer experience
  • Ensures quality data and analytics for global PPK on case tagging
  • Runs periodic data checks and addresses issues, coordinating with other global business functions to ensure alignment and data integrity
  • Works on Bain proprietary tools/systems and ensures policy adherence
  • Supports internal teams in performing analysis and reporting on tagging-related changes and metrics
  • Creates and distributes regular reports for senior stakeholders on complex or disputed cases, tagging changes, and resolutions
  • Supports annual CTT processes, e.g. creating worksheets and data pulls for taxonomy
  • Extends support in ensuring that revenue is captured correctly in the revenue management system and correctly reflected in standardized reporting (in coordination with PPK Reporting & Analytics team)
  • Suggests potential updates to product architecture based on tagging trends

Skills & Aptitude

  • Undergraduate from tier 1/ tier 2 colleges with minimum 2-3 years of work experience in a professional services/research set-up
  • Postgraduates/ MBA’s strongly recommended (from tier two school with 1-2 years of experience may also apply)
  • Good business judgement to be able to work independently within a remote set-up while working with multiple global stakeholders
  • Eye for detail and good command of English. Ability to spot small inconsistencies and fix them as per Bain standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with the application of MS-Office toolkit (Excel, PPT, Word), ability to learn new tools such as Alteryx and Tableau
  • Go-getter attitude – someone who can work independently or with minimum supervision
  • Ability to communicate confidently with global audiences; participates thoughtfully during team meetings and updates
  • Flexibility to work closely with teams in a global setting. This may require working non-standard hours
  • Proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • Demonstrates the highest levels of professionalism
