A Quantitative Researcher or “Quant” is a specialist who applies mathematical and statistical methods to financial and risk management problems. S/he develops complex models that are used for asset pricing, auto-hedging and managing risks.
Key accountabilities
Examine market trends and trading workflows to propose new or improved algorithmic trading strategies. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining analytical tools/applications, critical for ET clients.
Analysis of and improvements to algorithm performance.
Applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to understand data and build models.
Assist in building and optimizing everyday tools for enhancing the performance of Electronic Trading tools of Barclays.
Coding skills are important to help scale your research across large data sets. One is expected to have experience in Python. Experience in SQL/KDB+ is a plus.
Quant Developer
Overall purpose of role
A Quant-developer working within the SM&D team is responsible for designing and developing reusable frameworks to underpin their market analytics, execution strategies and models, pricing, hedging, pre/post-trade analytics.

Translating mathematical models into programming language
Closely working with Quant Researchers and other Developers globally for Implementation, testing, and productisation of system features and bugfixes
Building and optimizing everyday tools for enhancing the performance of Electronic Trading Algos
Participation in team peer reviews of code, modelling and testing
Providing second-line support
Purpose of the role
To participate in the day-to-day activities of the SMAD electronic trading division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.
Accountabilities
Execution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision-making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, and collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for SMAD electronic training.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for SMAD electronic training.
Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, and processing of transactions.
Management of the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support decision-making for SMAD electronic training.
Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.
