Your role

Maritime Advisory India is a growing consulting Research & Innovation unit overseeing activities in Region Southeast Asia, Pacific and India. DNV aims to be a data-smart solutions organization providing management and technical advisory services within the maritime industry, focusing on Maritime Decarbonization, Digital Transformation and Sustainability. Their key stakeholders include shipowners, charterers, maritime authorities/government entities and defence, banks/investment/leasing companies interested in maritime assets and infrastructure, LNG suppliers and traders, maritime technology providers and the digital eco-system/start-ups. They are currently focusing their consulting and research activities on maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, and sustainability.

This position will be on a 6-month contract term plus possible extension preferably based in Mumbai, India.

They are seeking candidates who are pursuing or passed out master’s degree. He/she will work on advisory projects and leading-edge Research and Innovation activities, including new technologies in the maritime sector such as autonomous and zero-emission vessels, data platform/data analytics, developing decarbonization strategies, etc. The selected individuals can expect to work in a dynamic, high-performing team with diverse technical and management backgrounds, nationalities, and experience, leveraging on the DNV global network, accelerated learning curve and working on exciting projects with a meaningful impact on the client’s organization and broader maritime industry.

As an Intern, you will be part of an experienced and diverse team conducting consulting work such as techno-commercial feasibility studies and market assessments, research & innovation activities or delivering customized solutions to clients within the region and across the world, covering all elements of analysis and capability improvement projects leveraging on Digitalization, Automation and Big Data Analytics. There will be significant learning opportunities for the selected candidates as the role will involve engaging clients and external stakeholders, interviewing and brainstorming activities with DNV experts located in India, Singapore and other research and advisory hubs such as Norway and Germany, and other forms of activities involving desktop learning, reviewing of research papers and publications.

Job responsibilities

  • Conduct research on decarbonization technologies, regulations, and industry trends to support the development of sustainable strategies for maritime clients.
  • Assist in projects related to energy efficiency, alternative fuels, and emission reduction technologies in the maritime industry.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, reports, presentations, and other deliverables for clients.
  • Assist the communication team in branding and marketing activities.
  • Flexible and inquisitive mindset, with a willingness to collaborate with peers.
  • Contributes with new ideas, agile in thinking and fast learner.
  • Communicate, using appropriate channels, in a clear, open, active, and honest manner.

About you

The suitable candidates will have the following background/requirements:

  • Final year or passed out master’s degree candidate with a relevant major in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Economics, etc.
  • Candidates proficient in programming language backgrounds such as SQL and Python will be preferred.
  • Candidates proficient in working with macros in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI will be preferred.
  • Proficient in the English Language.
