The opportunity

The selected candidate will:

  • Supports the day to day activities of the support engineering team to ensure the smooth, ongoing operation of a solution and its successful deployment to the user community
  • Assists in the running, maintenance, and support of technology projects post-transition, using developing technical capabilities
  • Collaborates with other groups to gain an understanding of key business processes, products, and services to assist with support engineering activities​

Your key responsibilities

  • Supports the ongoing maintenance of existing development and related pre-production environments, using developing technical skills
  • Analyzes, documents, and contributes to the implementation of changes based on requests for change to an existing solution
  • Contributes to the assessment, analysis, planning, and design of release packages in projects with limited complexity under supervision
  • Monitors the effectiveness of installations and prepares progress reports for the review of more senior members of the team
  • Assists in the definition of internal control standards and procedures
  • Collaborates with other engineering groups to gain an understanding of products and services to provide technical support activities​

Skills and attributes for success

  • Demonstrates understanding of technology including networks, storage systems, servers, operating systems, applications, database, and web platforms
  • Demonstrates programming knowledge and experience
  • Has developing knowledge of business processes, products, and services, within agreed areas of expertise and can provide input to key stakeholders, such as Product Owners, business sponsors, and Service Delivery Managers on straightforward queries​

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred 
  • 0-1 year of relevant work experience 
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the support engineering environment
  • Some experience in customer-facing roles
  • Some managed service experience with modern technology understanding including cloud service, virtual networks/systems
  • Some experience working with environment configuration management, technical and process support for new infrastructure and environments

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience working with ServiceNow or similar tools.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment preferred.
  • Experience working in Dev Ops organizations preferred.
  • Experience in a professional services industry preferred.
  • Experience working in TFS and TFS Release Management is preferred.
  • Project management certification is preferred (PMI/CAPM or PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Familiarity with ITIL v2 or 3 would be advantageous
