About the role
In order to bring operational efficiency and continue to delight customers, Gartner is investing in TSP Quantitative Analysis CoE located in our Gurgaon Center of Excellence.
As a Researcher, you will be involved with Gartner’s Market Share and Forecast research to generate insights using both systematic and intuitive secondary research techniques. The successful candidate will work with a global team of analysts who assess the technology trends and business opportunities related to the IT Services market. They will help develop insights and advice to support our technology and service provider clients through Forecasts, Market Share, and other research publications.
You will study and analyze market company reports, SEC filings, investor presentations, earnings call transcripts, and other publicly available financial information sources to build a company-specific earnings model. This role contributes to the estimation and forecasting of vendor market share and revenues aligned to specific research agendas and document types in the IT Services Area.
What you will do
- Contribute to Gartner Market Share and Forecast reports through detailed research and analysis on vendors within the IT Services industry by analyzing revenue, business models, product portfolio, and industry trends.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the IT services market and sub-markets (consulting, business process services, implementation, managed services, etc.), covering overall market drivers, supply/demand side influencing factors, and macro-economic variables.
- Develop a clear understanding of IT markets and map vendor segments to appropriate IT Markets.
- Understand estimation methodology and Vendor revenue split and mapping with Gartner segments.
- Contribute to forecasting reports for the IT Services domain; assist in forecast assumptions and storylines by conducting research on influencing factors that impact end-user buying behavior and on IT vendors’ evolving business models, competitive environment, etc.
- Analytical thinking along with knowledge of visualization and data interpretation tools will be useful.
- Build knowledge around all internal and external data assets and enable the team to leverage these for innovative data-driven deliverables.
- Contribute towards continuous knowledge sharing across the team.
- Communicate and collaborate with different stakeholders including Market Leads, Market Analysts, and QA CoE team members on several research pieces and processes.
- Support and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the team.
- Closely collaborate with Team Managers and other members on cross-team initiatives and innovations.
What you will need:
- BE/B.Tech + MBA with 0-3 years of work experience
- Graduate + MBA from leading Tier I & II - B-schools
- Post-graduates/graduates with IT, Maths, Statistics, Science, Finance, and Economics background (BCA, B.Sc./B.A. Economics/B.Com)
- Experience in Technology Research and a keen interest in IT Services market is a plus
- General understanding of the latest technology trends and upcoming technologies and products
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Highly numerate with excellent critical thinking skills: Must be able to quickly grasp and articulate the fundamentals of a market and what drives demand and growth
- Eagerness to Learn: Showing strong awareness of the major issues across the IT industry and eagerness to learn more
- Strong communication skills – oral & written: Should structure all communication for meaning flow with a strong command on English language
- Working knowledge of databases like Factiva, Capital IQ, One Source, Thomson, et al will be good to have.
