About the job role

Fighting financial crime is a crucial line of defense for Goldman Sachs. The Transaction Surveillance Group within Financial Crime Compliance is looking for well-rounded professionals seeking to make an impact by protecting the firm against various forms of financial crime risk including money laundering, bribery, corruption, tax evasion, etc. We are looking for professionals who will monitor account activity and conduct investigations of potentially suspicious activity. The investigator would be expected to perform due diligence, as well as draft investigative reports. The ideal candidate would have strong investigative skills, a background in the financial sector, the ability to collaborate with others, and prior compliance experience.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Daily surveillance of client accounts for anomalous, high-risk activity.
  • Performing in-depth investigations of potentially suspicious activity. Such investigations may require reviewing historical transactional activity, interaction with other compliance representatives as well as the business, and reviewing public records for adverse information.

  • Investigate financial crime risk in detail
  • Feel empowered to present on risk-relevant material
  • Draft findings with supporting evidence
  • Work effectively with global teams across the firm and within compliance
  • Understand regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act and the Patriot Act

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior compliance experience is preferable, prior AML experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing workflows
  • Ability to prioritize workflows and ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to work independently and yet still be team-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
