The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision, and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in the Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.
Your responsibilities
- Installing, maintaining, and supporting customer installations, including but not limited to: provisioning of software components, setting up infrastructure (compute and storage), handling back-up/restore requests, procuring security certificates, etc.
- Designing and implementing gateway security.
- Implementing group policies, account restrictions, and resource administration.
- Implementing, designing, and troubleshooting SCADA communication.
- Installing, maintaining & troubleshooting servers, routers, and firewalls.
- Monitor and validate third-party security patches to ensure that the reliability of the software is maintained.
- Perform product hardening, to allow only necessary functions for product operation to be accessible.
- Maintain the test/production environment with updated software and hardware for current and future use.
- Ensure that L3/L4 support is operational to efficiently react to bugs.
- Evaluate the cyber security functionalities of the product and improve the security posture.
- Participate in security testing of the product to ensure that the vulnerabilities are addressed before release.
- Evaluate the cyber security functionalities (on-site) deployments and improve security posture.

Your background
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in cyber security architecture and methods such as defense in depth, default-deny, least privilege, compartmentalization, privileged initiation, RBAC.
- Good understanding of basic cyber security controls such as patch management, IDS/IPS (host and network), hardening, security policies, malware protection, filtering, NGFW, etc.
- Good knowledge of networking, Industrial protocols like DNP/MODBUS/IEC 61850, etc.
- Hands-on experience with communication protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, SSH, ICMP, DHCP, L2TP, PPTP, DNS, SNMP, RDP, and NTP.
- Knowledge of CISCO, sonic wall, and Ruggedcom network products and hands-on experience with installation and maintenance of servers, firewalls, and routers.
- Some programming experience in.NET core, API, and front-end technologies like AngularJS desirable.
- Working experience in operating systems and virtualization technologies such as Windows, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
