In this context, IISc invites applications for the position of Instructors in the disciplines of Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Humanities, Physics and Materials, to help to conduct the laboratory courses of the Bachelor of Science (Research) Program.

Vacancies:

6 (GEN: 01, OBC: 02, SC:01, ST: 01, EWS-01) 1 Position each for Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Humanities, Physics Discipline and two positions for Materials Discipline.

Eligibility Criteria:

Chemistry: PhD in Chemistry with two years of experience. Specialization in Physical/ Inorganic/Organic Chemistry is desirable.

Earth & Environmental Sciences: PhD with two years of experience. Specialization in the following areas is desirable :

  • Geochemistry with knowledge of aqueous chemistry, isotope ratio mass spectrometry, ion chromatography etc.
  • Exploration geochemistry and geochemical prospecting
  • Petrology and Geology

Humanities: PhD with two years of experience in any one of the disciplines: Sociology, Political Science, History, Economics. A multidisciplinary PhD is desirable. In the absence of requisite experience, candidates with fresh PhD can be considered or candidates with MA/M.Com with two years experience can be considered for the post of Project Associate-II with consolidated pay of Rs. 28,000/- + HRA.

Physics: PhD in Experimental Physics with two years of experience.

Materials: PhD in Materials, Metallurgical, Ceramics, Polymers Engineering with two years of experience.

Note: Candidates with prior research/teaching experience will be preferred.

Job Description

The instructor would be responsible for the maintenance of the undergraduate laboratories, teaching and conducting laboratory courses in consultation with the subject coordinators and the institute faculty. He/she would also help design and evolve the laboratory/lecture curriculum and may also need to assist in the conduct of tutorial classes, course material preparation (both print and electronic versions) and evaluation of students.

Age:

Below 35 years as of the last date for receipt of applications. Relaxation in age is applicable as per GOI norms.

Duration:

The above position is purely contractual, and candidates will be hired on a renewable annual contract (depending on satisfactory performance) for a maximum duration of 5 years. Contract tenure will commence from the date of joining. The waitlist will be operational for six months.

Salary:

Instructor pay will be fixed in the range of Rs. 54,000-5,000-74,000 + HRA per month. The salary range for a Senior Instructor is 85,000-5,000-1,05,000 + HRA. The salary will be fixed based on experience.
