Your role

IIT Madras Applied Mechanics department is looking for M.E., M.Tech, M.S, or its equivalent degree students to join their research teams.

You will join the team as a Project Officer and work on a project involving:

• Primary work – design of an algorithm for athlete localization, detection, identification, and tracking in a natural environment.
• Validate and fine-tune the algorithm in the presence of complexities like occlusion, motion blur, resolution, and scale variation.
• Development of an AI-based software system that incorporates the developed algorithm.
• The software system should be transferable across different platforms and devices.
• Demonstration of developed system with clients from sports bodies for their feedback and updation.
• Carry out detailed literature studies to understand various state-of-the-art techniques for its reproducibility.
• Need to write research articles and patents.
• Discuss and document specification requirements
• Adhere to planned deadlines and budgets.
• Supervise undergraduates/Interns/technicians as appropriate

Job Description:

• Design, and develop prototypes, leading to the implementation of new products in the field of sports for performance measurements of athletes.
• Should work in project teams with colleagues involving software development, IoT, and AI

About you

Preferred Qualifications:

• The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
• M.E., M.Tech, M.S or its equivalent degree in CSE/
• ECE/EE/IT/Mech from a reputed institute

Experience:

• Research/ Project experience involving computer vision, image/video processing, machine learning, and deep learning.
• Publications in premier journals and conference

Programming Skills :

• Expertise in Python and knowledge of libraries like OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, pandas, etc. is required.
• Knowledge in JAVA, R, MATLAB, and C/C++.

Personal Attributes:

• Responsible, dedicated to working, diligent, self-driven, flexible to travel to sports events, and training institutes, good communicator, and able to work as a team.
