Your role

IIT Madras Civil Engineering department is looking for Ph.D. students to join their research teams.

You will join the team as a Research Associate and work on a project involving -aerosol-induced changes to clouds, extreme rainfall, and hydrology over India at the climate scale.

• The candidate will be working on performing high-resolution simulations, preparation of input files, and postprocessing of the output in an HPC environment.
• He/She is expected to analyze the numerical experiments and publish them in reputed journals as well as present results at leading foreign conferences.
• He/She is expected to work cordially in the research group and support graduate/M.Tech students in their research.
• He/She will be closely working with scientists from IITs, IISERs, Nepal, Europe, and the USA.

About you

To apply for this position, you must have the following eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification:

• Ph.D. in civil engineering, hydrological sciences, atmospheric sciences, climate sciences, or any other relevant department 

Experience: 

• Should have worked with atmospheric simulations (using WRF/ WRF-Chem/ RegCM/ CESM/ CMIP models etc) in HPC environment.
• Should have good fundamentals on topics related to aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions, atmospheric thermodynamics, air quality, urbanization, and land-atmospheric interactions.
• Should have proven skills in science communication and publication in reputed journals.

Note: Valid GATE/ NET / UGC scorecard is needed.
