Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the space agency of India. ISRO is a major constituent of the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India. The department executes the Indian Space Program primarily through various Centres or units within ISRO.

Your role

Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, ISRO is looking forward to engaging bright candidates with the scientific aptitude to work as Research Fellows in multi-disciplinary fields and project activities related to Natural Resources, Environment, Ocean, Atmosphere, Studies related to Planetary Sciences and Microelectronics/VLSI.

Training, development & rotations

Research Associates will be engaged initially for one year and is extendable for a further period based on an assessment of their work and the requirement of the project. The maximum period of engagement of the Research Associate shall not exceed three years.

Salary & benefits

The monthly emoluments for Research Associates (Source: ISRO): 

• Research Associate -1: INR 47000/- Per month + HRA
• Research Associate - 2: INR 49000/- Per month + HRA
• Research Associate - 3: INR 54000/- Per month + HRA

In addition to the above-mentioned fellowship amount,

• Candidates would be awarded one of the above grades of Research Associateship amount depending on their merit as assessed by the Selection Committee.
• HRA at the prescribed rates in force at the place of posting will be paid and Medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per extant rules.
• The fellowship amount shall be taken as Basic pay for this purpose.
• Leave and other benefits will be granted as per extant DOS/GOI rules.
• Apart from this, the candidates selected will not be entitled to any benefits or concessions admissible to regular employees.

About you

To apply for this role you must have the following eligibility criteria:

Research Associate: 

Ph.D. in relevant subject with Master of Science with First class with a minimum of 65% marks (aggregate of all semesters) or CGPA grading of 6.84 on a 10 Point scale.

Research Associate -1

Essential Qualification :

• Ph.D. in Oceanography/Physical Oceanography or related discipline focussing on research related to Physical Oceanography with a Master of Science in Oceanography /Meteorology / Physics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics or related subjects.
• Research experience in Numerical Weather forecasting / Ocean Models/ Satellite Retrieval Techniques.

Research Associate - 2

Essential Qualification :

• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology or related discipline focussing on research related to Atmospheric Science with a Master of Science in Meteorology / Physics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics or related subjects.
• Research experience in modeling, retrieval, and satellite data analysis.

Research Associate - 3

Essential Qualification :

• Ph.D. in Marine Science or related discipline focussing on research related to Marine Science with a Master of Science in Marine Science or related subjects.
• Research experience in modeling, field visit experience, sample analysis, and satellite data analysis.

Age: Maximum Age limit is 35 years for Research Associates.

• Candidates need to apply online mode only.
• Upon online registration, applicants will be provided with an online Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference.
• After registration, take a printout of the application summary. This printout is to be brought along with a passport-size photograph and documents supporting the data furnished in the online application at the time of the Personal Interview. 
• Out-station candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro second class railway fare by the shortest route on production of proof of journey, such as the railway ticket number or bus tickets, etc. The candidates will also have to produce documentary proof in original, of the details furnished in their application at the time of attending the interview.

Selection Process:

• Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on academic records or written tests (if required).
• The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Communication shall be sent only to the shortlisted candidates.
• The selection will be based on the performance in the personal interviews only.
• In case the candidate is claiming equivalent specialization, he/she has to obtain a certificate from his/her Institute/University stating that the specialization is equivalent to the one asked in the advertisement for the post applied for. SAC reserves the right to the final decision.
• The call letters for the interview to the short-listed candidates will be sent only by e-mail.
• No communication shall be made to the candidates who are not short-listed.
