Who You'll Work With

You will work in our Chennai Client Capabilities Center as part of the geographic research team that focuses on Asia. This team creates impact by delivering regional expertise, distinctive insights and client deployable capabilities (e.g., solutions, tools, etc.,) for McKinsey client service teams and clients. You will co-lead a team of ~35 colleagues based out of the Chennai office. 

You will be a part of our Global Client Capabilities Network(CCN) which includes more than 3,000 client capabilities professionals who work alongside our consultants and clients to generate distinctive insights and proprietary knowledge. You will also help develop, codify, sanitize and manage our global knowledge portal which includes more than 50,000 documents that form the backbone of our firm's knowledge management.

What You'll Do

You will help co-define the team's strategic priorities by delivering cutting-edge insights and expertise, incubating new capabilities and assets, and leading internal knowledge development. 

In this role, you will help coach and nurture junior colleagues to enable them to deliver distinctive client impact. You will also ensure that the team meets its day-to-day and long term operational demands for its expertise and capabilities. You will leverage a solid understanding of business trends, issues and concepts to efficiently respond to complex research questions by delivering synthesized, actionable facts and insights as a thought partner to our consulting teams and clients. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues within the client capabilities centers globally on larger client projects, internal team and knowledge initiatives. 

There is flexibility to join as a Specialist or a Team Leader, depending on the candidate experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree from tier colleges with relevant work experience in knowledge/research, post-graduate or advanced degree in a related field typically economics or business; MBA is a plus
  • Strong business awareness; perspective on local markets particularly demographic/business/economic trends is good to have
  • Solid understanding of economic, financial and general business concepts and terminology
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who enjoys the challenges and rewards of research work
  • Ability to juggle high-level priorities in a dynamic and changing environment  
  • Inspiring people leader; inherent passion for working with people, enabling a cohesive and collaborative team culture
  • Models and empowers the culture and mindset of innovation and distinctive client service within the team
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build relationships within the team and with multiple stakeholders at all levels within McKinsey
  • Willingness to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills
