You'll join the McKinsey Global Institute team at our Gurugram/Chennai office.
McKinsey & Company established the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) in 1990 as its independent, internal economics research arm. Its mission is two-fold: to achieve a breakthrough microeconomic understanding of the most important global macroeconomic issues today, and to generate insights that materially impact the decisions of both corporate leaders and policymakers.
One of MGI’s core research themes is the impact of automation on the workforce. This research has produced a suite of widely cited in-depth reports analyzing automation trends and the expected impact of these trends on a wide range of economic outcomes for both the private and public sectors. MGI has developed several proprietary models that inform this research. These models and related datasets have a number of applications including the following:
Comparison of current and future automatability across sectors, occupations, skills, and activities
Assessment of automation potential and adoption/ displacement across most client-specific taxonomies at an enterprise level
Analysis of net change in employment by occupation and activity for different sectors and countries, based on job loss from automation and new job creation from technology diffusion and other macroeconomic factors
Assess change in skills required in the workforce of a company, sector, or country
Support in developing company workforce strategies including how to reshape jobs, and training programs, and where to improve performance, quality, and speed
Support for the public sector in developing policy
You'll help senior team members and clients implement the current portfolio of automation models for workforce planning and strategy.
In this role, you will expand the current portfolio of models to additional countries. You'll research and develop insights on specific automation market topics. You'll support leadership in the deployment of the automation models for reach and relevance and client-related initiatives. You'll work as a team member on future MGI automation and future of work studies.
