Are you an experienced network or network security professional looking for an opportunity to work on some of Azure’s biggest challenges?  We are the Azure Core team, and we are looking for a Technical Program Manager to join our team.

We are part of the Azure engineering organization and consider great customer experiences critical to the overall success of Azure. Our team builds the Azure Network platform and services like SDN platform, Azure Virtual Network, Azure VPN, Azure Firewall, Azure Private Link, and other customer-facing network and network security services.  We create, define, and lead product offerings that set our customers up for success, empower them to solve problems and ensure they have a phenomenal experience.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a technical program manager to lead our efforts to identify opportunities and gaps in the implementation of features. Help the Engineering team to design architecture and integrate solutions to technical needs for features. Prioritize work, determine success criteria and performance metrics. Drive feature crew to orchestrate and integrate efforts for the development and implementation process of features. Partner with engineering to deliver on the roadmap. Track, coordinate and communicate end-to-end project schedules. Manage and stage implementation plan for piloting/release. Drive compliance with processes, regulations, policies, standards that must be met throughout the development lifecycle. Help in validating use-case and scenario outcomes, and performance targets that are expected. You will use your leadership and organizational skills to communicate requirements and drive implementation across the many teams.

The scope of responsibilities includes:

  • Developing and implementing SDN (Software Defined Network) network features/components to modernize azure cloud.
  • Connecting with partners and other product teams to identify requirements and opportunities to scale/improve network platform features across the platform
  • Developing a roadmap and providing visibility to others.
  • Working with senior program managers & leaders to create and maintain alignment
  • Engaging with engineering teams across Azure Core to align on dependencies.
  • Measuring and reporting on the success of the problem space through relevant metrics and KPIs
  • Partnering with engineering to deliver impactful and innovative technologies

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR Related Technical Degree OR equivalent experience.
  • Deep knowledge of networking and application, host, platform and network concepts and implementation (e.g. Firewalls, IPS/IDS, access control, routing, WAN, tunnelling, NAT, encryption, protocols (TLS, SSH…))

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Ability to concisely frame problems, conceptualize simple solutions and make decisions based on data and metrics
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make quick decisions and understand the consequences.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills (verbal and written); Ability to clearly communicate business problems and complex technical issues to a broad audience
  • Experience building strong working relationships with, collaborating with, and influencing diverse cross-functional and cross-geo teams (engineering, support, etc.). Drive change without authority across groups
  • Experience with data analysis. Including Excel, Power Pivot, Power BI, Kusto (Azure Data Explorer), and SQL
  • Sets and holds teams to high-quality deliverables without explicit authority.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and successfully executing complex and large programs. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory / compliance requirements. (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Strong technical background or hands-on experience in software development
  • Passionate about delivering the right solution at right time with the best quality that delivers the most impact to partners.
  • Self-starter that thrives in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment with a proven track record of delivering on commitments.  
  • Thrives in team-based work, performs well in high-intensity environments, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done.  
  • The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
