The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is responsible for the formulation, implementation, and review of national policies in the field of Information Technology, Electronics, and the Internet (all matters other than licensing of Internet Service Providers). Its mission is to promote e-governance for empowering citizens; promote the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT, and ITeS industries; enhance India’s role in Internet Governance; adopt a multipronged approach that includes the development of human resources; promote R&D and innovation; enhancing efficiency through digital services; and ensuring a secure cyberspace.
An internship is an opportunity for a student to secure first-hand and practical work experience under the guidance of a qualified and experienced Supervisor/Mentor. It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. For the larger benefit of the student community and with a view to enriching the management/implementation of its various schemes/programs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has decided to notify these “Internship Guidelines”, to provide a framework for the engagement of Interns for a limited period.
Internships would be offered once a year. The minimum duration of the internship shall be two months, extendable up to three months, depending on the performance of the candidate, the requirement of the Ministry, and the time the Intern is willing to spend with the Ministry. Every batch of Interns or individual Interns, as the case may be, will have a Scientific/Technical Project Supervisor/Mentor from the Ministry.
Token Stipend:
Certificates will be issued by the Ministry to the Interns on the completion of the internship and submission of the Report duly countersigned and accepted by the Competent Authority. The internship is neither an employment nor an assurance of employment with the Ministry.

Eligibility:
# Students would be considered for internship only for ‘Cyber Laws’ and ‘Public policy on Internet’ areas.
**Students would be considered for internship only for the “Project appraisal and Funding methodologies for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing units vis a vis international economies” area.
Note: The students who are in the last semester or who will pass out in summer 2024 will not be eligible for the internship. Only students who are in the previous year will be eligible.
