Department overview:

Loan Settlement forms the industry standard web-based loan trade processing platform dedicated to efficiently settling primary and secondary par and distressed loan trades in both the US and European markets. The Markit Clear platform simplifies trade settlement by providing an integrated, collaborative, real-time platform for buyers, sellers, counsel, and agent banks to capture acknowledge and settle primary and secondary market loan trades. The platform is designed to improve liquidity and efficiency in the par and distressed loan markets, facilitate trading and provide real-time reporting based on the status of open and historical trades. Markit Clear provides access to real-time agency bank data along with the integration of client systems to accommodate the straight-through processing of loan trades.

The MarkitClear team is split over 2 locations, New York and Delhi, and covers Product Management, Development, Sales, Account Management, and Operations.

We are looking for candidates to contribute to the design and development process. 

Position summary

We are looking for an experienced technologist to become a member of the MarkitClear development team based in Gurgaon, India. This person will work closely with existing team members in this dynamic and challenging industry to develop and maintain innovative solutions for a state-of-the-art centralized loans settlement platform, with emphasis on testability, and leveraging existing components to accomplish timely delivery of software products according to the business schedule.

Being chiefly responsible for ongoing UI development with .Net technologies, this individual will interface with various business units in the planning of major functionality, analyzing business functional requirements to determine the scope of work, evaluating available application alternatives to support business needs, and managing resource planning/constraints.

Education and experience

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
• Expertise with programming languages, programming techniques, web development technologies, and use of databases
• Expertise with HTML, JavaScript, and Java in conjunction with databases and UI technologies like Angular JS and/or ReactJS and JQuery
• Expertise with relational database concepts, Graphical User Interface, and service-oriented architecture
• Experience with DevOps CI/CD is desired
• Experience with developing Cloud Native (AWS) applications is a plus
• Experience creating architectural approaches for software design and implementation is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to work effectively as part of a project/program team and foster team cooperation
• Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel

In addition, the following skills are helpful

• .NET Core
• Docker, Kubernetes
• AWS experience

Commercial awareness

• Experience working in the financial sector, particularly in Loans of Fixed Income, would be an advantage.

Application Design

• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments, to include Cloud technologies.
• Ensure consistent implementation of company software development processes and standards.
• Ensure system capacity, performance, and failure recovery architecture including design and execution of both functional and non-functional tests.
• Tight collaboration with product managers and expert business analysts.  Comprehension of business specifications and an ability to implement well-designed solutions based on the defined requirements.
• Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.

Application Development

• Design and code complex programs.
• Evaluate complex business requirements and processes.
• Provide production support for several mission-critical systems.
• Conducts analysis of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.
• Work with a highly innovative and dynamic development team.
• Take initiative and work independently on certain projects, while contributing to a large team on others.
