Your role

You will be part of a global operations team that forms the backbone of Reuters news management. The international team provides critical support to ensure the company's news operations run smoothly; their stories are resourced appropriately; the company has the right staff in the right places at the right time, and their staff are safe throughout the world.

As an operations analyst, you will provide critical support for a variety of functions including:

  • Freelancer and vendor management
  • Payment follow-ups
  • Procurement
  • Customer queries
  • News research
  • News planning assistance

This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new team that has made a real impact in freeing up resources across news operations.

  • You’ll need to be comfortable using spreadsheets and working diplomatically via email and phone to resolve problems and ensure the company's processes are running efficiently.
  • An interest in news and an understanding of journalism is highly desirable as there will be opportunities to assist with updating news planning calendars, answering customer queries and helping journalists with database searches.
  • You must be willing to work evening and overnight shifts.

Key Deliverables & Accountabilities in this role are,

  • Assist General Managers with freelancer contracts, vendor account setup and payments. Ensure timely follow-through on unresolved issues
  • Track staff issues, including managing an up-to-date headcount tracker and assisting with issues related to the company's contractor population.
  •  Manage purchase orders using the internal procurement tool, Ariba
  • Answer queries from definitive customers about news stories
  • Update news planning calendars as required
  • Assist with new database searches
  • Ensure all reports are accurate, current and easily accessible when needed
