Your role

The intern's duties will include:

  • supporting news writing, multimedia, and audio/video production within the unit, including gathering information from diverse sources.
  • Assisting in researching and analyzing information on assigned topics/issues.
  • Helping to assess news value and other potential impact.
  • Use visual elements like charts, graphics, and maps, and data visualization tools to provide an accessible way to see and understand trends, outliers, and patterns in data.
  • Creating a database of existing partners by collaborating with the UN Partnerships Unit and seeking guidance from Unit Chiefs.
  • Performed research on content distribution channels by studying best industry practices and understanding the priorities and needs of our target audience.

Work-life balance

UN provides a hybrid working option with flexible work timings. They are known for their flexible work environment. However, the option to work from home is not an entitlement, it is purely dependent on the role. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Hindi Unit, UN News Section I. It is designed to be an in-person internship.

About you

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations New Delhi Headquarters Internship Program, Department of Global Communications, the following conditions must be met:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program in broadcasting, journalism, communications, multimedia, or media studies (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar.

Work experience

  • No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Program.
