Job Description

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer supports the administration of central and/or local data centres, legacy and/or centralized infrastructure, standards and requirements and provides support for the availability of Vodafone IT applications and Data Centre activities and database environments. The Infrastructure Operations Specialist has a good understanding of established concepts and procedures in internal network infrastructure, data availability and technical support for customers (internal and external) gained through extensive practical experience and works with the colleagues to deliver monitoring of hardware and software in datacentres, and executes event/incident, configuration, escalation, release, deployment and 3rd party database management activities. Typically reports to the Infrastructure Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Experience in Backup Technologies i.e. Dell EMC Networker or Avamar (optional NetBackup.)
• Should have basic knowledge and experience to manage the online backup modules such as Oracle, MSSQL, SAP, NDMP etc.
• Intermediate level of knowledge of Infrastructure such as Unix, Database, Windows
• Should have a good understanding of ITIL - Incident, Problem and Change Management
• Responsible for handling day-to-day issues related to the Backup Servers assigned.
• Responsible to update the assigned incidents with the right resolutions as performed on the cases
• Should escalate the cases which require intervention by other teams
• Communication to the requestors on their cases in a timely manner
• Should collaborate with-in team and Technical Consultants to discuss the pending cases to arrive at resolutions
• Should flash high-risk cases to the Leads so that relevant MIMP cycle to be initiated.
• Should have exposure to managing Heterogeneous Environment, Approximately should have handled 10+ Servers and 15000+ Clients
• Should have good communication skills both Verbal and Writing
