CACTUS's story begins in 2001 when a researcher at the University of Tokyo asked Abhishek Goel to edit his research paper that was to be submitted to an international journal. A realization dawned. Non-English-speaking researchers trying to get published in prestigious international publications are at a disadvantage, and we could help them overcome the language barrier. This is how the idea for CACTUS was born.
When we started helping researchers meet their publication goals, we wanted to help researchers from all around the world get due recognition. We then extended our support to other players in the research and publishing space. Our initiatives, services, and platforms are designed to empower key players in knowledge creation, communication, dissemination, and promotion. We want to advance society by making science accessible globally through innovation and technology.
The Covid-19 pandemic forced us to rethink how we work, communicate, and collaborate with one another. Work-from-home became the norm. A few months into the pandemic, we initiated the groundwork for becoming a remote-first organization.
In December 2021, we announced that any Cactizen can work from any place that makes them happy and more productive. Our efforts to support remote work were recognized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government which certified us as a Telework Master Company.
