Data Science for Social Good initiative was launched at the University of Chicago in 2013. Launched the First Annual Eric & Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good Summer Fellowship funded by Schmidt Family Foundation with 48 fellows and 12 projects.
Our mission is to foster the use of data science for positive social impact. We train and support a new generation of data scientists, provide direct support to nonprofits, and develop tools that ensure data science and artificial intelligence are used to positively and equitably benefit people all over the world.
We have a wide range of initiatives designed to create impact: from training data scientists, governments, and non-profits to work on social impact projects, to developing tools for ethical and responsible AI, to connecting social good organizations with data science needs and volunteers who can help them.
We partner with universities, non-profits, government agencies, and corporations globally to create and run a wide range of programs and projects at the intersection of data science and social good.
