ONGC Petro Additions Story

ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL), a multibillion joint venture company was incorporated in 2006. OPaL is promoted by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and co-promoted by GAIL and GSPC.

OPaL has set up a grass root mega Petrochemical complex at Dahej, Gujarat in PCPIR/SEZ (Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region/Special Economic Zone). The complex's main Dual Feed Cracker Unit has the capacity to produce 1100 KTPA Ethylene, 400 KTPA Propylene and the Associated Units consist of Pyrolysis Gasoline Hydrogenation Unit, Butadiene Extraction Unit and Benzene Extraction Unit. The Polymer plants of OPaL have 2X360 KTPA of LLDPE/HDPE Swing unit, 1X340 KTPA of Dedicated HDPE and 1x340 KTPA of PP. The project commenced its production after the inauguration of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in March 2017.

The mega petrochemical complex is tactically located in the port-city of Dahej, Gujarat giving it a competitive edge of connectivity to domestic as well as overseas markets. Equipped with adequate indigenous feedstock supplies, world-class technologies, talented human resources, and above all, easy access to the growing domestic & international market, OPaL is powering ahead in the fast-evolving petrochemical landscape.

The demand for polymers in India is huge and is expected to further rise with the growth in GDP. India will continue to be in a deficit of Polyethylene in the foreseeable future. Moreover, this also works as perfect downstream integration for ONGC - the key promoter who supplies the required feedstock Naphtha from its Hazira, Uran and Dahej facilities, which is essential to run the plant at full capacity.

Apart from the home turf, being in SEZ, OPaL markets a substantial part of its products in the international market and has spread its polymer footprint across the globe with its world-class products and services. To achieve this, OPaL makes effective use of technologies, while being sensitive to the environment at all times. The Recruitment Process

  • The selection will be done on the basis of an interview.
  • The applicants will be shortlisted for this interview.
  • The intimation regarding the interview shall be sent through email for shortlisted candidates only.
  • The selection of the candidates shall be provisional and subject to document verification and pre-employment medical test.

Social Contributions

  • In October 2020, OPaL donated Rs. 12 Lakh to Narhari Arogya Kendra (Hospital), Vadodara to procure a ventilator to treat the patients with COVID 19
  • For the treatment of underprivileged COVID 19 patients, a donation of Rs.5 Lakh to Jayaben Mody Hospital, Ankleshwar was made by OPaL in October 2020.
  • OPaL distributed food prepared in the OPaL canteen to migrant labourers at Jolwa Village in Bharuch district in May 2020 during COVID lockdown.
  • During the COVID 19 lockdown in May 2020, OPaL distributed grocery kits to underprivileged people in Suva and Ambetha villages of Bharuch district
  • In April 2020, OPaL donated premium quality sanitiser, face masks and Odomos tubes to the district administration of Bharuch to support local & district police and Sarpanch of Suva, Ambetha and Vagra taluka in their fight against the COVID 19 pandemic.
  • OPaL donated Rs.5 Lakh to Gujarat CSR in March 2020 for the day-to-day maintenance of the Urban Restroom in Bharuch (Near Bharuch Railway station).
  • In March 2020 a Cricket Tournament was organised for the youth of Suva village. Cricket kits for the tournament and trophies were procured by OPaL and handed over to the youth of the village.
  • OPaL donated Rs.1 Lakh to the SCG foundation for the free treatment of underprivileged cancer patients in October 2019.
  • A donation of Rs.50 Thousand was given to the Tagore foundation for the distribution of school bags to needy children in May 2019.
