The Piramal Glass Story

In 1984, Piramal Group acquired Gujarat Glass, which was located in Kosamba India. The group renamed the company as Piramal Glass Pvt. Ltd. In 1998, Piramal Glass opened its second plant in Greenfield Expansion at Jambusar, India. One year later, the company acquired the Ceylon Glass Company in Sri Lanka. With this move, it became the largest packaging supplier for the pharmaceutical industry, claiming a market share of around 35 percent. Later, Piramal Glass acquired a part of Glass Group Inc, a US-based company with a focus on the North American market. 

The Recruitment Process

Freshers can apply online for roles in departments such as quality assurance, operations, production, technical services, IT, microbiology, R&D, engineering and supply chain management. Candidates are required to submit their resume, with shortlisted candidates invited to a phone interview with a member of the HR team. All the candidate queries related to job function, remuneration, facilities are discussed at this stage.

The third stage involves an interview followed by an online assessment, which looks at the candidate’s alignment to the company’s core values and success factors. Based on the second and third stage performance, candidates with the right skillsets are offered the job. Candidates are required to submit their documents at the time of joining.

Career Prospects

Piramal is said to offer an entrepreneurial work environment, with fast-tracked career growth. Piramal focuses on growing its workforce to get them closer to their vision. The group has its own university named Piramal Learning University (PLU). PLU focuses on providing Piramal employees with a plethora of learning opportunities to enhance their behavior and functional capabilities. Recent data suggests that an entry-level design engineer can earn anywhere between INR 3.8 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs, lower than some competitors who offer around INR 4.5 Lakhs to 7 Lakhs.
